Making your sausages is a great way to add a variety of flavours touch to this versatile food item. With a sausage stuffer, you can experiment with different spices, creating unique flavours for any season. Impress your guests with homemade sausages using Maxima's sausage stuffers!

Sausages are popular in many countries and are available in different flavours and varieties. However, high-quality sausages can be a challenging and time-consuming task to make by hand. With the assistance of Maxima's sausage stuffers, you can easily create homemade sausages.

What is a sausage maker machine?

A sausage stuffer, also known as a sausage maker, is a device equipped with a reservoir, a filling tube and a pressure plate. It can be operated either manually or electrically.

The process is simple: place the ground meat (or fish) along with any desired seasoning mixes into the reservoir. The pressure plate then pushes the meat into the filling tube, while simultaneously guiding the sausage casing over it. These casings are usually made from animal intestines or artificial materials, both of which can be easily filled. Once the sausage is sufficiently filled, simply twist it a few times and move on to filling the next one.

What types of sausage machines does Maxima offer?

There are two types of sausage stuffers: horizontal and vertical models. The choice between them depends on personal choice and workspace availability.

A horizontal sausage filler, although occupying more counter space, can be conveniently placed on a countertop even if there is a cupboard above it.

On the other hand, a vertical sausage stuffer requires height but occupies less workspace. Regardless of the type chosen, both have a tiltable cylinder for easy filling and cleaning.

You can also choose between an electric sausage stuffer operated with a foot pedal, allowing hands-free twisting of the sausage or a manual model operated by a crank.

How do you use a sausage maker?

Simply screw the right-sized tube filler on the sausage stuffer to get started. Each model of sausage stuffer comes with four different sizes of filling pipes. These determine the thickness of the sausage. The reservoir and filling tube can be tilted towards you and filled with the ingredients you want to make your sausage with. The casing for your sausage is pushed over the filling pipe. Hold this firmly in place when you start.

With a manual sausage stuffer, turn the crank to lower the pressure plate into the reservoir. This is how you will push the meat in the reservoir out through the filler pipe. With your other hand, you support the sausage at the end of the filling pipe. Make sure that as little air as possible enters the casing while filling the sausage.

Fill the casing as tightly as possible, but not too tight that you cannot twist the casing to form separate sausages. The automatic sausage stuffer works the same way, but here you do not have to turn it by hand, but push the meat out with an electric foot pedal.

TIP: Seasoning meat is much easier with a meat mixer and don't forget to grind it finely using a meat mincer.

How to clean a commercial sausage stuffer

A sausage stuffer should be cleaned properly after every use. The reservoir and the filler pipe come into direct contact with meat or fish and will contain leftover food residue. Fortunately, Maxima's sausage stuffers are very easy to clean.

The parts such as the reservoir and the filler pipe can be removed. These parts are made from stainless steel and can be washed in the dishwasher. It's important to clean the pressure plate with a disinfectant. When all parts are clean, you can reassemble the sausage stuffer ready to be used again.
